LTL Matchmaker is the most effective way to transport volume shipments.  When you have a shipment that occupies 16 linear feet or more, contact us (or select LTL Matchmaker from the "Quote" form).  United Shippers issues a “volume”, or “market” rate to meet your immediate needs.  When you anticipate a future volume shipment (next week, every week, next month, every month, etc.), the LTL Matchmaker service is activated.

LTL Matchmaker will “match” your shipment with other large shipments having a similar destination, on a similar schedule.  Once a a suitable match is found, our logistics manager coordinates the scheduling with both shippers, and both consignees.  One of our contracted truckload carriers is then dispatched as the schedule dictates.  

Successful matches result is a more efficient, and cost effective way of transporting your merchandise. The shipment is picked up at your location and delivered directly to your customer on the same truck. There are no relays or freight handling involved. Transit time is reduced substantially, and your shipment arrives exactly as you loaded it.  With a collaborative effort, dramatic cost savings can be achieved.

Example:

Shipper "A" in Melville NY ships 10 skids, 20000 lbs. to Chicago IL on a monthly schedule.  A volume rate of $850 is issued, and is available for immediate use.

Shipper "B" in Brooklyn NY ships 12 skids, 18000 lbs. to Elkhart IN every other week.  A volume rate of $850 is issued, and is available for immediate use.

Through collaboration with all parties involved, United Shippers' logistics manager arranges the transportation as follows:

Every month, a truckload carrier under contract to USC picks up 10 skids at "Shipper A" in Melville NY, then picks up 12 skids at "Shipper B" in Brooklyn NY.  The carrier delivers in Elkhart IN the next day, then proceeds to Chicago IL for final delivery.

Freight costs:

Truckload rate + 2 additional stops = $1295/2 =

Final Cost: $647.50

Both shippers save over $200 (beyond the savings a "volume" rate)
